This is how we get things muddled up. All forms of electoral violence must be condemned. It is pertinent to observe that the attack was on a Presidential Candidate of PDP. So, it has nothing to do with the Office of the President. That the candidate is the President should not confer any status in a campaign train. The intelligence unit of the security units need to step up the game and nip some of the embarrassing trend in the bud.
ReplyDeleteIt is not acceptable for anyone to attack any candidate when the window to show support is by voting. A violent minority should not be deceived of being in the majority.
Indeed, I however blame the President for not ensuring a peaceful atmosphere as we approach the General election. He should make scapegoat of security chiefs who can't make scapegoat out of subordinates that caused such disturbing trend.
Let the IG sanction a CP or supervisory AIG that failed in curtailing violence and if he can't, then replace the IG. We will see changes when sanction stares officials in the face.
