In spite of our new found status as the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria has been ranked as one of the world’s 2014 least prosperous countries.
According to a report released by UK based Legatum Institute, a research organization that documents annual prosperity indicators around the world, Nigeria is the 125th out of 142 countries surveyed. Despite Nigeria’s acclaimed $510bn economy, the nation also failed to make the list's Top 10 most prosperous countries in Africa, a league that was dominated by Botswana and South Africa.
